This historical prints by Joseph Wolf provide a unique and beautiful picture of the diversity of birds. Did you know that birds and dinosaurs have many characteristics in common? For example both birds and dinosaurs have hollow bones and run on two feet. Also unique to dinosaurs and birds is the furcula: a fork-shaped bone which is an amalgamation of the two clavicles. But there is more evidence of a close relationship. The molecular composition of tissue of the Tyrannosaurus is more in line with those of birds than any other living species as well. The conclusion was drawn quickly: Tyrannosaurus and birds have evolved from the same ancestor. Birds are actually flying dinosaurs.
