This wallpaper is based on the original oil paintings by Marinus Adrianus Koekkoek (1873-1944), who was during his lifetime the most famous animal artist from Netherlands. He was a draftsman employed by the National Museum of Natural History, the predecessor of Naturalis. All Dutch schoolchildren knew him because he was the artist that painted 36 school biology wall charts which hung in every primary school in the first half of the twentieth century.
